Weekend Recap: Goodbye October, Hello November

Parker and I had a very chill Halloween this year.

We spent it at home with the pups carving pumpkins and watching Halloween I & II

Hello, November!

I'm sad to see October go, but November is one of my favorite months.

I love the consistent cool weather and beginning of holiday excitement!

Saturday we woke up to our first legitimately cold morning of fall, so we decided to take advantage of the perfect weather and take Leo and Benny out to the tennis courts & let Leo play in sand for the first time!

He loved it!

Because the weather was so amazing this weekend, we kept the windows in our apartment open all day & the boys couldn't get enough of it!

 I hope every weekend in November is as perfect as this one!

Life Update: October 2014

SO much has happened in the past week that I honestly don't even know where to begin!

I suppose I should start off with 2 weeks ago...

Saturday night Parker and I decided to relax at home with a little beer, LSU football & puppy snuggles

It was just what I needed after a draining shift at work

One night earlier that same week (I honestly can't even remember my days anymore), Parker decided to cook shrimp pesto pasta salad for dinner 

We snuggled up on the couch with a delicious meal, good beer and The Mindy Project!

It was a perfect night at home!

Now onto the insanity of last week week:

To begin, school was very, very busy

I had a group project, speech outline due & a massive Neuromotor Control of Human Movement test that I had to do well on

On top of school, I also had a very long work week ahead of me

It was honestly shaping up to be one of the worst weeks of the semester so far & I was preparing myself and Parker for quite a few tears and late-night breakdowns 

and those tears definitely did happen. 

Being overworked, sleep deprived, running on nothing but crackers and caffeine for days PLUS trying to understand the entire Cerebral Cortex  in one night = emotional breakdown city.

However, what I wasn't prepared for was quitting the job I was miserable at on Thursday and being offered a new, amazing job on Friday!

Let me start at the beginning...

After my work shift on Monday, I came home feeling so low. 
I simply hated my job.

So on Tuesday between classes I decided to check around and send out applications.

To my extreme relief and surprise, someone was hiring and wanted me to come in and interview!

So, after my all-nighter the night before for that days Neuro exam, I had 2 interviews with the company.

 The next day got the most exciting phone call that they were offering me the job!!

I could not be more excited and happy!!!

That night Parker and I went out to dinner at a local Italian restaurant to talk everything over and relax after all the chaos of the week

That same day was my best friend Brooke's 24th birthday as well

Friday night Parker, Joey, Brooke & I went out to celebrate her birthday and my new job

And things got a little weird...

We had all planned to meet up at 6am the next morning to head out to College GameDay at LSU, but the night went a little later and we had a little more to drink than anticipated so we all agreed that sleeping in was the way to go.

After I finally got myself out of bed, it was time to bring Leo to his last puppy vet visit!

He weighs 30.8 lbs at a little over 4 months!  

After the vet, we stopped and picked out Halloween costumes for the boys

Fall Break

Thursday and Friday of this week was fall break for LSU, so I decided to request off work for two days to make the most of my break.

Parker and I spent Friday running all of our errands we haven't had the time to run between school, work and being parents to two dogs

On that errand list was picking up pumpkins!

Leo is pretty excited for his first Halloween!

Saturday was a much more relaxed day for us

Parker and I got up at 7:30 am with Leo and then napped on and off until noon

It was absolute heaven!

The only thing on our to-do list was to take Benny to get groomed, so while Ben was getting pampered we decided to take Leo over to the pool to test his swimming skills

It took a little coaxing, but he finally took the plunge!

After Leo wore himself out in the pool, Parker and I had plans to sit our butts on the couch and watch the Ole Miss/Alabama game

Unfortunately, we were having some internet issues and the technician that was scheduled to come out and fix it for us was a no show, so we had to improvise

Parker and I decided to go down to the workout room and watch the game from there until someone could come out and fix our cable issues before the LSU game started

It definitely wasn't the best part of our day by any means, but you just have to make the best out of crappy situations sometimes...

And always have a good bottle of wine waiting for you at home to pop open to relieve some of the stress

Although the day did not go exactly as planned (no internet and LSU getting completely destroyed by Auburn), it was still one of the best days I've had since all of the chaos of the past few months began

things are starting to finally feel settled again & I could not be more happy about it

Life Update: New Season, New Changes

I'm baaaack!

Finally!!

Life has been absolutely nuts, y'all

Since I've been gone there have been just a few changes that have occurred in my life.

To start:

- I have a new job

- I have started my last semester as an undergrad at LSU

- We moved into a new apartment

- I have a new hair cut

- Parker broke his fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot 

&

- Leo is now over 20 pounds!

I honestly can not even put this past month into words

So much has happened and so many emotions have been felt that there are some days I wake up and wonder, how the hell did we get here and where the hell did the time go?!

I mean, Christmas is only THREE months away!!

how is that possible?!

The only thing moving faster than time are Leo's bones

I am happy to report that Benny and Leo have been getting along so much better

They love to play together and Benny has even come to Leo's defense when other dogs have come to close

Leo's 13 1/2 week vet visit 

He weighs 20 pounds and his perfectly healthy!

I cut about 5" off my hair!

I was just craving a change

I'm really loving it so far!

I wish I could get it to look this good everyday 

I'm taking a tennis class this semester as part of my activity requirement for graduation

Not to be dramatic, but I am absolutely horrible at tennis

Everyone in my class seems to be a long, lost Williams sister or secret relative of Roger Federer

Parker was suppose to be my tennis practice partner, but he went and broke his foot, so I had to find a replacement in the form of 2 furry men

 

Hopefully they can help me pass my tennis midterm coming up in a few weeks!

Our friend Joey is massively into beer and has gotten Parker really into trying new beer as well, so he created a new blog to document and review all of the beers we try!
