Wedding in New Orleans

Friday night Parker was the best man in his friend Travis' wedding.

It was located at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel, which is a very cute & quintessential New Orleans landmark in the heart of the French Quarter

The food was absolutely divine 

As party favors they gave out personalized champagne bottles

cheers!

I just arrived back from dropping Parker off at the airport (he's in Atlanta for work for the next 4 days), so my rainy weathered weekend will most likely consist of cleaning, Netflix, puppy snuggles & a lot of warm peppermint tea!

Saturday Date in New Orleans

Parker and I hadn't had a true date day since before we brought Leo home (almost 4 months ago), so we decided that before the real stress of final exams begins we were going to spend the day just the two of us in New Orleans.

We arrived in NOLA around 11:30 and headed straight for lunch at the Napoleon House on Chartres Street in the French Quarter

The building is over 200 years old.

Napoleon was supposed to reside there during his exile in 1821

He never made it, but the name and place stuck around

Last time Parker and I ate here we had to sit shoulder-to-shoulder with another table and practically out on the street.

This time, it was far less crowded so we chose to sit in the courtyard 

Parker and I both ordered the Louisiana Pesto Pasta Salad and decided to split a muffaletta 

The salad was amazing, as it always is

It has shrimp, cucumbers, peppers, red onion, basil pesto, penne pasta and toasted pecans

Yum!!

The muffaletta, however, was disappointing

I am not a fan of the olive mix they use

After lunch I started to feel really sick

I woke up that morning with a sinus infection and thought I could shake it off for one day, but my sinuses had other plans

Thank God, for Kleenex! 

I didn't want the day to be a total waste and go home, so we walked around the French Quarter for a little while longer

We picked out our annual New Orleans Christmas ornament at a local Christmas shop across from the French Market 

Around 3:00 my body was ready for PJ's and Netflix, so Parker and I headed back to the car and home to our puppies

But not before one elevator selfie!

I spent the rest of the night feeling awful, so on Sunday Parker and I went to Old Navy to buy matching Christmas pajamas so we could curl up on the couch and watch Scrubs all day

I hope this sinus infection goes away before Thanksgiving.

Stuffing your face with food just isn't as fun with a runny nose and pocket full of Kleenex

P.S. I was feeling so sick because I was PREGNANT & didn't know it yet. I actually wouldn't find out until almost 3 more weeks. 

Week/Weekend Recap: Kendra Scott, Moon Ring & New Orleans

This week started off pretty rough school-wise.

All I'm saying is that group projects should not be allowed in college, especially in senior level courses where the project is worth almost half your overall grade...

anyway...moving onto the better parts of this week!

After my first day at work in my home clinic, Parker came home and surprised me with gorgeous flowers, my favorite sushi & the Kendra Scott necklace I had been lusting over for weeks!

I'm so in love with this necklace!

Thank you, Parker for being so sweet!!

That night while Parker was taking Leo & Benny out for their final potty before bed, he looked up and noticed this crazy ring around the moon!

It looked like something out of a Syfy movie!

Fun fact of the day:

According to Google, this ring is caused by  the moonlight passing through ice crystals in the atmosphere!

Saturday we helped our best friend's Brooke & Joey move to New Orleans.

We went to the coolest local bar called The Avenue Pub near their new apartment to watch the LSU/Alabama game.

If you are ever in the New Orleans area definitely check this place out!

It has the most amazing architecture and art work, as well as a fantastic selection of beer & a delicious burger!

The only thing I will say about the game is: Geaux Tigers and go to hell Bama

ugh!

One of the perks of having your best friend work at a local brewery is all of the free beer!

Our fridge now looks like we live in a frat house

Next weekend we plan to go to the Renaissance Festival with Brooke & Joey for the Celtic weekend!

I can't wait!!

Zurich Classic

Today was the Zurich Classic in New Orleans!

It's also my very first time attending a professional golf tournament

As we walked into the course they had Zurich Classic selfie mirrors set up, so naturally we had to take advantage

Gotta love Parker's 'Merica chubbies

We followed Keegan Bradley around all day

 Keegan! 

It was so much more fun than I was expecting and I definitely hope to be back next year

New Orleans, I Love You

Every year for our anniversary we take a weekend trip to New Orleans. 

The first time we went we had only been dating for a little over a month. We decided to go down to New Orleans for the day and ended up staying the whole weekend! We had so much on that trip that we decided every year for our anniversary we would do the same thing (except more planned out in advance). 

This year Parker and I both took off work on Friday so we could wake up early and head down.

First stop when we arrive is lunch at Pierre Maspero's on Chartres Street. I swear they have the best muffaletta in all of New Orleans. 

It's mandatory that I stop at Maspero's whenever I'm in New Orleans

Next stop: the french quarter!

 What do you mean there's a spider on my head?

 The best store in the entire city!
(P.S. It's actually the worst store ever, but it's got my name on it so we will just pretend)

Friday night is sushi night at Geisha Sushi Bistro!

I got the Rainbow Roll & salmon roll while Parker picked the  2 most spicy rolls, I'm pretty sure, ever made. 

 There is little I love more in the world than good sushi

Saturday we woke up early and headed to the World War II Museum!

I'm a history nerd so I absolutely loved it

After the museum we headed back to the french quarter and found ourselves right in the middle of the French Quarter Festival. 

We had no idea it was going on this weekend, but who can complain about getting to listen to live New Orleans jazz, blues and zydeco music all weekend? Not us!

For our last day in New Orleans we decided to hit up Lafayette Cemetery & magazine street 

 It's the same cemetery where they film The Originals 

Sadly, we didn't see Klaus or Elijah 

but I did find 4 four-leaf clovers!

After the cemetery and lunch at Dat Dog on magazine street we headed over to city park where we got to paddle boat around the New Orleans art Museum and flower garden! 

Now we are on our way home to our puppy with a lot of amazing memories and very, very happy tummies!
